Starring Hong Kong actors such as George Lam and Andy Lau, directed by Ann Hui, Boat People explores the complexities of Vietnamese society after the communist takeover after the Vietnam War, viewing it from the perspective of Shiomi Akutagawa, a Japanese photojournalist. The film won 5 awards at the second Hong Kong Film Awards including the Best Film and the Best Director awards.

This film screening is organised in conjunction with the exhibitions <“Who wants to remember a war?”> and <LINES: War Drawings and Posters from the Ambassador Dato’ N. Parameswaran Collection>, which features posters, woodcuts and drawings from the French phase of the Indochina war of resistance against the Americans, and drawings and sketches of life and people at the frontlines.
