Pre-Conference Survey: UMAC Singapore 2012

International Committee for University Museums and Collections (UMAC) Conference,  10 to 12 October 2012, Singapore

The International Committee for University Museums and Collections (UMAC) is one of the specialised committees of ICOM (International Council Of Museums). UMAC (clickhere for more info) stimulates discussions, fosters international partnerships, develops links and advances knowledge. UMAC is young, growing, active and practical. UMAC promotes better understanding and increases knowledge. It develops definitions, procedures and policies. UMAC practices advocacy and proffers information where it is needed.

In October 2012, the NUS Museum, will host the annual UMAC Meeting and Conference, the first in Southeast Asia. It is hoped that the conference in Singapore will involve a strong participation from regional university museums. Theme(s) for the conference will be developed to reflect perspectives and challenges of a university museum, its immediate context and its broader public role.

In a bid to ensure that the UMAC 2012 conference addresses adequately, NUS Museum has created a pre-conference online survey touching on fields relating to university collections, museums and communities. Those keen - including university museum professionals, collection administrators, students and academic staff specialising in museology and curating - are encouraged to indicate key focuses in the themes and topics. There is also an option which allows for themes not reflected in the survey proper to be highlighted.

In this regard, we seek your kind inputs in sharing with us the information related to your university collections, museums and communities. The online survey ends 31 July 2011.
