Duke Mullane (Jeff Chandler) ventures to Tungga, east of Sumatra, to start a tin mine in the remote mountains. Initially welcomed with open arms by the tribe's chief, Kiang (Anthony Quinn), Duke's task is complicated by his attraction to Kiang's fiancee, Minyora (Suzan Ball). The arrival of his ex-flame, Lory Hale (Marily Maxwell), and his prejudiced superior, Daniel Catlin (John Sutten), only further antagonises the Tungga people. A colourful and explosive mix of overlapping love triangles and native rebellion ensues.
All shot in Technicolor, this film is the first departure from monochrome in the malayablackandwhite series.
