UMAC 2012: Conference Website and Call for Papers

XII Annual Meeting of the International Committee for University Museums and Collections

The 12th Annual UMAC Conference will be organised by the National University of Singapore and NUS Museum.

It will take place in Singapore from 10 to 12th October 2012.

The conference theme this year is Encountering the Limits: The University Museum.  We invite papers  on the conference theme and sub-themes.

Drawing on themes in Museum Studies, the conference seeks to explore the evolving tensions and challenges to museum practices within the university landscape and their varied contexts and predicaments. Exploring the ‘limits’ of the ‘university museum project’, the conference will examine conditions and prospects of the university museum. In doing so, it aims to allow the appraisal of critical perspectives and strategies that seek to sustain and advance the museum’s institutional role in the university and beyond.
